Manufacturing in Salmon ArmSalmon Arm’s industrial sector forms a major part of the local economy, accounting for about 25% of total employment. Industry in Salmon Arm is comprised of manufacturing, forestry, mining, construction, and transportation & warehousing. The City’s largest private sector employer is Canoe Forest Products, a producer of superior quality Canadian softwood sheathing and specialty plywood products. 

There is a diversity of products being manufactured in Salmon Arm with a strong cluster of technology businesses, metal fabrication, and advanced machining. Local businesses serve nearby oil and gas markets, as well as export their products worldwide to service forestry, mining, and construction sectors, among others.

Salmon Arm has a dedicated Industrial Park which is home to 81 diverse and growing businesses. The Industrial Park is also home the Okanagan College Trades Training Centre and the Shuswap Regional Airport.  The Park offers affordable and available land for business development, as well as a convenient location, just minutes from Canada’s longest national highway - the Trans Canada. People, products and services are easily moved into and out of Salmon Arm via the Trans Canada Highway, CP Railway, and airport options.
