Salmon Arm Undertaking Branding Project
October 6, 2017

Salmon Arm Economic Development Society (SAEDS) is pleased to announce that with the strong
support and partnership of numerous community organizations, SAEDS is launching a Brand
Development Project and related Marketing Strategy for Salmon Arm. This project is being led by a
Brand Leadership Team comprised of 20 volunteer members representing diverse organizations and
interests. The community is invited to join us to hear Chris Fair, a global leader on Place Branding and
NYU Professor Steven Pedigo, October 18th at 5:00pm the Prestige Harbourfront Resort to learn more
about Place Branding and this important community project.

 
 The goal of this project is to develop a Salmon Arm brand which residents, businesses, community
organizations and local government can collectively support. There is a strong appetite to join together
to establish one community storyline/image, which can collectively be supported and built upon over
time. The end result will be multiple community organizations working towards a common economic
development goal.

idea that we needed to work together on a Salmon Arm brand. I am excited about this project as the
timing is right. Salmon Arm has so much to offer that we want to come together to share our stories.”

 Thanks to strong partnership contributions and funding support from BC Rural Dividend Fund, SAEDS is
now able to move forward with this important project. A Request for Proposals was developed and
released in August of this year, and after collaborative review process a consulting team has now been
chosen to carry out the work for this project. Resonance Co. (http://resonanceco.com/), a consulting
company that specializes in place branding, will begin immediately, with the goal of completing this
project by early spring 2018.

positioning strategy and brand in order to attract more talent and companies to the city.”

launch and guest lecture on place based branding. Resonance Consultancy President Chris Fair and New
York University Professor Steven Pedigo will share research on the key factors that attract both talent,
companies and tourists to cities today and discuss the role place branding and placemaking plays in
attracting visitors and investment to our city. Join us to learn more about the importance of this project
and the path Salmon Arm will follow as we work towards a community brand development. Please RSVP

Recreation Society, SASCU, Shuswap Construction Industry Professionals, Shuswap District Arts Council,
Shuswap Trail Alliance, Shuswap Tourism and Neskonlith Indian Band.
